Never forget your roots.
The term was coined as the mantra of my budding photography business, Jacob Halsema Photography. Behind those words lay unbelievable pride for not only my Connecticut roots, but also for how the journey with my camera began, in 2019. Ensuring that I never forget how I got to where I am now as a creative content story teller is very important to my vision, incorporating these foundations into all aspects of my life, as a photographer, as Jacob, but most importantly, as a human being. Carrying these words in my back pocket everywhere I go helps me stay humble in all of my endeavors.
I have so much love for my upbringing as a photographer, and encourage everyone around me to "Never Forget Your Roots", photographer or not!
